How Do I Join Mensa?

To become a member of Mensa, you must demonstrate to us that you have an IQ higher than that of 98% of the world's population. There are two ways to join: pass our entrance examination, or submit evidence of prior qualification. Lapsed members click here.

  1. The Mensa Supervised Entrance Examination: For candidates without prior evidence of their eligibility we offer a supervised qualifying test for a fee of $90. Group testing sessions are held regularly in every major city across Canada. We administer two different tests, and you will be invited to join Mensa if you qualify on either one. Tests can be given to anyone aged 14 or older.
  2. Prior Evidence: If you have already written a qualifying IQ test, you may be eligible for membership without any further testing. The fee for this evaluation is $25 (NB, NS, NL: $26.86). Once it is verified that you are qualified, you will be invited to join our society. Any questions on Prior Evidence must be referred to the national office at mensa@eventsmgmt.com

Prior Evidence

If you have already written a qualifying IQ test, you may be eligible for membership in Mensa Canada without having to write our entrance examination. Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Mensa Canada website and look at the most recent list of recognized tests, and minimum acceptable scores. The list is located here.

  2. If you have written one of these tests and have earned the minimum score or higher, then send your tests results, along with the required fee, to our supervisory psychologist. The fee is $25 (cheque or money order, payable to Mensa Canada).

Note: If the test was given by an individual psychologist, it must include the full name of the test, the score and percentile rank. This documentation must be on institution / agency / clinic letterhead and signed by the psychologist responsible for the testing, along with the psychologist's license / certification number issued by the province / state in which the psychologist practices.

Note: The name on the documentation must match the name on the application. If it is different for some reason, documentation must be included. For example, a notarized copy of a social insurance card, marriage license or court records to show a new married name.

Put your official test results, and the $25 evaluation fee (cheque or money order) into an envelope, along with your current mailing address, and send it to:

Mensa Canada
P.O. Box 1570
Kingston, Ontario
K7L 5C8

Once the verification is complete, you will be invited to join our society, and the first year's membership dues of $60 will be payable at that time.
